Vegan Iced Lavender London Fog (Earl Grey Tea)

Lavender London Fog

A London Fog has become one of my favorite drinks.  As a tea lover and someone who enjoys tasting those fun undertones in teas (or wines), I really enjoy trying out different ways to enjoy my teas. I’ve even hosted Afternoon Tea Parties (pre-covid) with family and friends. Though you could swing through the Starbucks drive-thru to purchase an Iced London Fog, where’s the fun in that? Recreate one in the comfort of your pajamas.

What is a London Fog?

The London Fog is traditionally served with earl grey tea, frothed milk, vanilla extract or syrup, and a sweetener. The London Fog actually originated in Canada (Vancouver to be exact), not London.

Ingredients for London Fog Drink

How do you make an Iced London Fog?

This London Fog recipe is receiving a little makeover. But traditionally you would use earl grey tea, frothed milk, vanilla syrup, and honey. It is also meant to be served hot. As a plant-based eater, I’m tossing my own little secret sauce with lavender simple syrup and drinking this London Fog on ice. Iced London Fog drinks are starting to make an appearance as the weather warms up a bit.

This recipe could be used for both a hot or cold London Fog if you omit the ice cubes. First, with boiling water, step one bag of earl grey tea in a bowl or cup.  I like to steep my tea for about 5 minutes to ensure I have a fully brewed tea. Next, I measure out my non-dairy milk, I like to use oat milk because to me it’s the creamiest non-dairy milk I’ve tasted. If serving warm, add your tea to a mug and froth your milk. If serving cold, add your tea to a glass with ice cubes. Add in your simple sugar or liquid sweetener and milk to your cold glass and enjoy.

Note:

I used 1/2 cup of sugar to 1/2 cup of boiled water in a saucepan until the sugar dissolved. I removed it from the heat and allowed it to cool. I also added about 1/2 tbsp of dried lavender. (Don’t forget to strain the dried lavender before storing)
