Is a ThredUp Goody Box worth it?

Who doesn’t want a personal treasure hunter to find cute clothes under $50? ThredUp Goody Box offers just that. For the past five months, I’ve been subscribed to a two-month subscription, meaning every two months, a new box is at my door. After completing a fashion profile, my personal treasure hunter was ready to search through ThredUp collection for my goodies!

If you aren’t familiar with ThredUp, I call it an online consignment shop. The jokes really on the person sending clothes. Thredup sends you a bag to clean out your clothes, you have the opportunity to sell your more high-quality clothing (think Express, Chico’s, J. Crew). You’ll be able to make a little coin off your purchases but for the most part, the clothes you sent to ThredUp probably won’t get sold. But those clothes can be returned or donated.

What is a ThredUp Goody Box?

Your Goody Box is loaded with ten pieces that a personal treasure hunter selects for you. You set your preference by selecting items such as body type, size, style, favorite brands, your budget, and so on. My cadence is 2 months but you could receive it every 3 months, 4 months, or just one box. The clothing is consignment but some of my items have had the tags still on them. There are a variety of boxes you can order such as the Work From Home Box, Coordinated Colors, Custom Box, Create Your Own, and there are seasonal boxes as well.

How much is the ThredUp Goody Box?

The only upfront payment you’ll make for your Goody Box is the $10 personal treasure hunter. You can select your price range. I selected the range of $20-$40. This is pretty accurate, but there have been a few pieces that are less than $20. The upfront $10 you pay is used as a credit towards your purchases.

Is Thredup Goody Box worth it?

Perhaps I’m biased but I truly believe so. I also have ordered Stitch Fix, which in my opinion the pieces are too expensive! My judgment point and comparison point are based on my experience with both of these boxes. The Goody Box offers more pieces and there’s an element of surprise, which I truly appreciate. The clothing is second-hand which for me is a plus for ethical and sustainability reasons. Since I’m not seeking high fashion pieces, purchasing from Thredup offers a great discount on quality items.
