Vegan Date Night at Melting Pot

You might be surprised to learn that, yes, there are vegan options at the Melting Pot. Beyond being a place heavily known for its cheesy fondue, now there are vegan, gluten-free, and dairy-free options. These options are perfect for a romantic night on the town.

What is vegan at the Melting Pot?

Melting Pot is known for its fondue and dessert offerings. Options are easily veganized with cheddar-style shreds and dark chocolate. Also, Gluten-Free options are available within the vegan options. You can partake in cheese fondue, a salad, an entree, and dessert fondue.

What are the courses like at the Melting Pot?

…Delicious! Ha! Okay, seriously, each course can be offered a la carte or all together in the three-course or four-course offerings.

For your vegan cheese fondue, a small fondue pot serves two people for about $22 (prices vary by location). For additional vegan friends, it’s about $11 per extra person. The cheese fondue is cheddar-style shreds, gluten-free beer, garlic, and spices. It is served with vegan-friendly bread, apple, and veggies.

The salad entree is about $7. You have the option of the house salad or the California salad. It is served with either a raspberry walnut vinaigrette or oil and balsamic. The house salad has romaine and iceberg lettuce with tomatoes and scallions. The California salad has mixed greens with tomatoes.

You receive a simmering pot of liquid for the entree, and you can choose the cooking styles to prepare your garden pot. The entree is about $27 per person. Options for the cooking style are :

  • Vegan bourguignonne (European style with canola oil)
  • Mojo (Caribbean-inspired, garlic, cilantro, and citrus)
  • Court bouillion (seasoned vegetable broth)
  • Cast-iron grill (tabletop grilling)

Whatever you pick, you’ll prepare your garden pot by placing the skewers in the liquid (unless it’s cast-iron grilled). Use your phone’s timer and Melting Pot’s time suggestions to cook your food accordingly. Feel free to ask for additional skewers. If you feel spicy, you could do what we did and drop everything in the pot and not use the skewers. (no, seriously use the skewers)

You’ll be able to nibble on:

  • Vegan Polpettes (It’s like a vegan meatball)
  • Veggie Potstickers
  • Red onion
  • Asparagus
  • Zucchini
  • Mushrooms
  • Sweet Peppers
  • Artichokes Heart

End with a dessert of dark chocolate fondue. The price for the chocolate fondue is about $22, and it serves two people. It is served with strawberries, bananas, pineapples, and ‘Nana Pops (these as granola like bites)

My take on the Melting Pot

Melting Pot is a very fancy night out, especially if you have all four courses. Prepare to feel full but maybe not too stuffed that you can’t take a late-night stroll. I wish the entree had a little more items, quantity-wise, for the table. I also wasn’t a fan of the ‘Nana Pops. I just want the fresh fruit. The cheese was the star! It tasted so much like regular cheese, but I was greeted with a slight aftertaste. Still very delicious. I can’t wait to go back, perhaps on a double date!
